Positano, Italy

Positano, the gorgeous little city on the Amalfi Coast, was our last (and in my opinion, best!) stop in Italy. (first three stops: Rome, Florence, and Pompeii) It was absolutely breathtaking, with its bright flowers, turquoise waters, and craggy mountains. All the houses had to be built on the steep slopes, so we saw lots of terraced gardens growing huge lemons, many of which are used for making the famous limoncello. We stayed at a bed & breakfast, run by a family who had landscaped and cultivated the land around it for generations to create a piece of heaven on earth. In addition, they kept their own pigs and chickens and probably other animals as well! The only downside was... you had to climb 300+ stairs to reach it. Let's just say that after walking miles a day around cities, climbing hundreds of stairs, and hiking, our legs were in top shape by the end of the week! :)
